The Kali Gandaki River is one of the most popular rivers in Nepal for rafting enthusiasts, thanks to its pristine waters and stunning surroundings. This river is also known as the "River of Gold" due to the gold deposits found in its sediment, making it an even more unique and breathtaking place to visit.

The 180-kilometer-long Karnali River originates directly from Mount Kailash in Tibet and is one of the top rafting locations for both guides and adventurers because it provides a fantastic whitewater roller coaster experience. The river empties into secluded sections of pristine jungle that are rich in wildlife, birds, and fish. This rafting route's starting point is Dhungeshwor, about a 24-hour drive from Kathmandu, and its ending point is Chisapani (578 kilometres from Kathmandu).

Along with offering thrilling water sports adventures, the Karnali River also offers breathtaking vistas of the Himalayas, valleys, and amazing native flora and fauna. Karnali River Rafting is gratifying due to the amazing, pure forest beauty, Western hill culture, and excursion to Bardiya National Park. We also have the opportunity to interact with the Ruate nomads of Nepal, who prowl the banks of the Karnali River in search of food, prey, and shelter.

Itinerary

Our journey starts from Kathmandu where we will fly to Nepalgunj ( Approx.1 hour flight).  Reaching upon Nepalgunj, we will drive to Surkhet which is 7 hours drive. Upon reaching Gopghat, our Put-in- Point, our crew member will set up camp and we will stay overnight in camp.

You will be greeted with thrilling river rapids today. Follow your river guide's directions while you navigate the rapids. For the following few days, the majority of the float will be in wilderness. Enjoy the rapids in the water that rushes from Tibet quickly. The main rapid you will cross today is called "Sweetness & Light." However, during peak season, you will need to arrive from the centre while riding two tall waves. Grade IV rapid describes it.

From Day 3 to Day 9 we will repeat one simple procedure, " RAFT, RELAX and AGAIN RAFT".  The rapids we will encounter during our raftings are 
• HUMANS FOR LUNCH, A spectacular rapid where the raft is forced to descend through ongoing wave trains. (Grade 3) 
• JAIL HOUSE ROCK, The river's gorge section contains the rapid. The right side has a sizable hole and is a beautiful rapid. Paddle leftward as you enter the rapid from the centre. (Grade 4) 
• INVERSION, This rapid follows Jailhouse rapid immediately. It's a really sizable rapid, and there are several sizable waves coming from the right. The raft will be driven by your guide in a straight line. After the rapid, there is a stunning waterfall, followed by Scorpion Beach, one of the nicest river beaches on the Karnali. 
• GOD'S HOUSE, One of the top five rapids in the world, according to many, is God's House. From Scorpion Beach, it is located about 20 minutes downstream. To avoid a very large hydraulic in the center-left, your guide will enter the rapid from the left. Before leaving the rapid, you ride a few of waves. 
• JUICER, This quick follows God's House immediately. Both the centre right and centre left of it have a sizable hole. Your tour guide will ride a big wave in the middle and enter the river from the left. (Grade 4) 
• FLIP AND STRIP, As the name implies, the trip will be spooky. Due to the enormous holes on the left and the large hydraulics on the right, the guide will enter the rapid from the centre. (Grade 4) 
Some of more rapids we will encounter during the journey are Snapshot, totali ghat, red rock canyon.  
 

Today we will put end to the amazing journey and drive back to Nepalgunj for an hour flight to Kathmandu. Enjoy some time with the crew member while on the road. 

Additional days can be organised to stay in Bardia for more wildlife activities. Let your group leader know and all will be settled spot on.

    • Alcohol and other packed food.
    • Insurance policy: paddlers need to have their own insurance since we only provide insurance to our crew.
    • Tips for guides – we pay our guides and porters fairly but if you want you can tip them personally.
