After Dughla/Thukla, the trail climbs up the rough terminal moraine of Khumbu Glacier. This area has rows of stone monuments built in memory of Sherpas who died in an avalanche during the 1970 Japanese expedition on Mt. Everest including Babu Chiri Sherpa, a 10-time Everest submitter and Scott Fischer who died in 1996 Everest disaster. While crossing the ridge from here, you will have great views of Mt. Once we reach Everest Base Camp, we take some pictures. We will give you some time to enjoy this moment of reaching the base camp of the tallest mountain on Earth. After finishing our activities around the base camp, we will return to Gorakshep through same trekking route and prepare for another day.
(Note: Today we will have early dinner, and get to bed early as the very next day, we will start trek early morning to view sunrise and Mt Everest from Kalapathar)
The interesting fact of Everest Base Camp Trekking- “Kalapatthar” is only the place where you can have best views of Everest among all other views. Today we will start our trek journey early morning, so we won’t get disturbed by naughty weather. Grab your camera, layer yourself well, carry a head lamp and be ready for the most majestic moment of life.
Kala Patthar is a small peak at an altitude of 5,545m. Most trekkers climb up Kala Patthar to catch the sunrise and the best views of Mt. Everest. The ascent up the peak is demanding especially as it can be very cold (-20c or lower), windy and sometimes snowy. Once you reach the top, you will be rewarded with the magnificent views of Mt. Everest (8,848m). Himalayan giants such as Nuptse (7,861m), Pumori (7,165m), Chagatse, Lhotse (8,414m) and countless others loom all around you. The soul of wanderlust will get emotions reaching upon here. After few moments in Kalapathhar we will descend to Gorakshep (5,140m) and have a good breakfast. Check out the lodge. Follow the trail and descent gently to Lobuche (4,910m) and slowly go up towards Pheriche.

We will meet some monks around there. Then slowly descend for about 2 hours towards Phunke Tenga. Climb up ascending slowly to arrive at Khyangjuma (3,550m). We will stop at Khyangjuma for lunch and will trek uphill for 2 more hours to arrive at Namche (3,440m).
Most of our trekking route today will be steep downwards as we will be loosing altitude from this point. But remember, in mountains walking downwards is much risking than climbing up. So watch your steps. We will cross the suspension bridges decorated with prayer flags above the gushing Dudh Kosi river. The views of open plains, pine and rhododendron forests as well as snow covered peaks will enchant you once again. Our Over night stay will be at Phakding.
The last day in Everest Region. The mountains behind us will be waiving us the final goodbye. Early morning we will hike towards Lukla. Some uphills routes along side the majestic view of Kusum Kangaru will make the route even more beautiful. Reaching upon hotel in Lukla, we will gather together one last time with Sherpa crew for dinner and share the story. Have some drink, dancing and one last meal in Everest we will end our Everest trek here in Lukla
Our best preference for the flight back to Kathmandu will be the early morning. But weather in Lukla is unpredictable. So we might get some delays. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to hotel. Today you will be free day in Kathmandu. You can do some shopping around or sightseeing if you want to. Our guide will help you out if you need any assistance.
We will have final dinner in Nepal as a farewell from Travel Adventure Nepal team in Kathmandu.
Important Information: Due to unpredictable weather in Lukla, some time the flight might not take off for the day so allow us 1 extra day in lukla. In those scenario we will return to Kathmandu in Day 15. Allow couple days extra for your return date to your home. You can always enjoy extra days in Kathmandu with day tours or short breaks package program.
Today our trip will end at 12 and need to check out the hotel. We will arrange luggage storage if you are departing later that day after 12 noon.
Trekking in Nepal is far more physically demanding adventure than ones expectation. A regular Exercise might help you to get more Strength, but we reckon that you undertake more Aerobic Exercise in the months before you Travel. Walking in the Altitude of 5,545m above Sea level with variation of Extreme Weather Condition will certainly need the 100% Active Physical Fitness.
Never set Imaginary Goal to reach Everest Base Camp. Your attempt to Trek without any Preparations might lead you to End up with Injuries or Pain. You might not able to enjoy the Trek and probably won’t ever Attempt another one. A Pre-Trek Training is Imperative if you want to be fit for Trekking and Enjoy the Trek. When it comes to Everest Base Camp Trek, at least take 6 months of preparations. A Consistent Training including Cardiovascular, Strength and Conditioning, Stability and Strength, Core and Trek Specific Training will definitely benefit you as you will be preparing yourself for the trek.

Kathmandu Lodge (2 Nights) and Tea House Lodge (15 Nights)
In Kathmandu, we use range of our 4 and 5 Star Accommodation including Holy Himalaya Hotel within a Walking distance of Thamel or Similar (Upon Availability).
Accommodation during the Trekking period however will be a Local Lodge, Known as Tea Houses which are Basic but adequately accommodated according to our standard guidelines. The older style tea houses will help you experience more Realistic era on the subject, how daily life runs in this region and which may not be an identical to your everyday practice, but considerably reasonable for the location. We always make sure the basic hygiene of the vicinity is always monitored and maintained to an acceptable standard. The hub of the teahouse is the dining room; usually decorated with colourful traditional rugs sometimes with a fire pit or heater (some lodges may charge a fee to put the heater on). Most teahouses sell snacks and other essentials such as tissues, soap and toilet papers. Almost all lodges have electricity, but it is not wholly reliable, and lighting may not be bright enough to read, carrying a torch is essential. Electrical charging facilities are generally available only in the dining room (charged at approx. Rs 150-350 per hour per device). Many of the lodges use solar generated power system so sometimes there may not be enough electricity produced for all of your devices. Many lodges have Wi-Fi installed these days, but the internet speed may vary with some areas working very well but in other parts slow and temperamental.
The Accommodation facility is arranged on a Twin Sharing Basis. If you are travelling on your Own you will be paired up with someone of the Same Sex. In some of the Lodges in Higher Altitude, the Occupancy may have to maximize to utilize the Space by Providing Multi-Bedded Rooms.
Toilets and Washing Facilities are very basic in Tea House Lodges and are shared. Toilets are usually Asian “Squat” Style, but now many lodges have installed “Western Style” Seated One. Toilet Papers are not provided so you should bring your own.(Please dispose the Wastage in the bin provided – do not put it in the bowl). If there is not a flush handle available, there will be a container of water to pour down. In the Higher Altitude there high possibilities of getting the Water Frozen so if the Water Container is empty (or frozen) either refill it or ask the lodge wait staff.
Hot shower facilities are available in some teahouses for a price and in most of the places; a hot shower means to supply a bucket of hot water, enough to wash your body.
Standards of Cleanliness are very basic in Higher Altitude lodges. During the Peak Trekking Season and winter, the Conditions may get out of Control. So please report any problems that may arise to your Group Leader. Be Very Attentive in your personal hygiene management. Standards of cleanliness vary especially in the peak trekking season and in winter when the water freezes at night. Please report any problems to your Group leader or the lodge and be vigilant in your personal hygiene regime – use soap or hand sanitizer gel before and after toilet breaks, snacks and meal times.

Our Itinerary does not include the meal throughout the Trek. Providing the selection option for our Client helps to adjust with the Trekkers Appetites according to Location. A Farewell dinner is served in behalf of the Company.
FOODS IN NEPAL
In Major Cities of Nepal like- Kathmandu, Pokhara and Chitwan there’s a variety of Choice of all tastes and Budget whereas the menus in the tea houses are Traditional Dhal Bhat and European Cousins. Vegetarians do not need to worry as they are well catered in Nepal. We reckon our Trekkers to put extra care around while choosing the meals around the Trek House. Dhal Bhat is the staple diet in Nepal and comes in many different forms but generally comprises some curried lentil dhal and meat or vegetables, some rice, and a pickle/chutney. Another popular snack is momos; a type of Nepalese dumpling, fried or steamed, filled with meat or vegetables.Although meat is available in the teahouses, we advise against eating it on trek. The meat has often been carried in the heat from lower altitudes for several days before reaching the lodges and can cause stomach upsets or illness. Germs can also be spread by handling dirty money - we recommend using hand sanitiser.
Meals on Trek: Allow approximately US$30-US$40 per day for meals, snacks and drinks in the lodges.
There are many fine restaurants in Kathmandu and you should allow approx. US$15 for lunch and US$20 for dinner. Drinks will cost extra charge. Nepal caters very well for vegetarians and vegans with almost all restaurants having a veg section of the menu. If in doubt, please check with your tour leader.
Your tour leader will be able to direct you towards restaurants that are known to have better hygiene, especially in tourist areas where they are travelling with our groups regularly
SOME TIPS THAT WILL HELP YOU STAY WELL WHEN EATING IN NEPAL INCLUDES:
- Stick to Restaurants and street stalls busy with locals - local families eating there are a good bet.
- Wash your hands before eating (most restaurants will have a hand basin or bathroom) or use a Sanitizing hand gel
- Give yourself a few days to get used to local food, especially spicy food.
- If in Doubt, Stick to the Veg Meal
- Avoid salads and peel fruit to Avoid eating skin that may be Washed in Local Water
- Steer Clear of ice unless in Higher end Restaurants
- Drink more Chai, Eat More mo-mo's
DRINKING WATER
Staying hydrated is important when undertaking any physical activity but particularly so at altitude where it is generally recommended to drink at least 3-4 litres per person per day. We strongly encourage you not to buy bottled water on trek as this contributes to the growing problem of plastic pollution in Nepal’s trekking areas.
All teahouses will provide cold water free of charge, if requested. Although this should not be drunk untreated, we recommend that you bring a reusable bottle with a wide opening (Nalgene or similar) with you and use a SteriPEN to treat it with. A SteriPEN is a handheld UV water purifier – small, lightweight and battery powered so easy to pack for a trek. In Nepal’s trekking regions most of the bottled water isn’t strictly ‘mineral water’ anyway but is UV treated, so it’s exactly the same technology. It’s quick to use, far more effective than purification tablets, and the water is ready immediately. It’s fine to use a SteriPEN on non-boiled water so long as it isn’t cloudy or full of sediment (which is uncommon in these regions). SteriPENs are widely stocked on Ebay, Amazon, outdoor shops and other online retailers; look for the latest models but avoid USB charging ones. Better still, a SteriPEN will pay for itself over the course of the trek and you won’t leave behind a single plastic bottle – you will end up spending the same or even less than you would on bottled water, plus you can keep it for future trips.
If you prefer not to invest in a SteriPEN, the teahouses also sell boiled water for approx. Rs150-350 per litre (the price increases the higher you trek) which should not require treating. This is also perfect for a bedtime refill as it can double up as a Hot Water Bottle.

Currency Exchange Facilities are Available almost everywhere in main Cities of Nepal except the Trekking Route in Himalayan Region however Lower Altitude Area of Mountains in Some retails Places Might still facilitate this service but certainly None in Higher Altitude. So, we strictly Advise our Travellers to Exchange their Currency in Day 1 of Trip while in Kathmandu valley. The Government of Nepal has banned the import, export and use of 500 and 1000 Indian rupee notes in Nepal. You should ensure you are not carrying these notes on arrival in Nepal as they will be confiscated, and you may be fined over importation of banned currency. Please note that Most Establishments in Asia will not Accept Foreign Currency Notes that are Old, worn off, Torn or Faded and they can be very Difficult to Exchange or Extra Fees Added when Exchanging at banks. Please Ensure that you have New/Clean dollar bill.
