Covid and its impact to Tourism in Nepal

Nepal being the Top destination for travellers interested in Trekking and wildlife safaris has also been affected by Covid 19 lockdown all around the Globe like other countries. Tourism being the backbone of Nepal’s economy and priority sector of Nepal Government, Nepal struggled more than other countries during the course of recovering from earthquake in 2015. But after strong effort from government of Nepal on vaccinating the most of population, Nepal has opened its border for all with high precautions implemented.

Yes, Government has lift the travel ban and published simple travel procedure that is regulated in favour of trekking enthusiasts and travel agent around the globe.

Nepal has been trekking paradise for long time. During the covid lockdown, even though foreigners werenot able to visit Nepal, Nepal was still able to stabilize its tourism with domestic tourism. Nepalese people are always warm heart people. So now you can find more homestay in local areas, more trekking trails and more adventure program.

Peoples behaviours have changed since the outbreak of COVID-19 and are preferring from short haul to long haul and are preferring destinations which are away from the hustle bustle of cities, offering off-beat travel delivering a safe and hygienic experience to visitors giving overall immersive experience of people, place and culture. In this regard, NTB along with the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) released 'Operational Guideline with Health Protocol for Tourism Sector' for the Tourism Industry to minimize risk for both consumers and providers of tourism services. Further, NTB in collaboration with concerned tourism organizations conducted online training for tourism entrepreneurs focusing on imparting safety, security and hygiene of Nepal as a destination.
